East Hawaii Hiroshima Kenjin Kai

The East Hawaii Hiroshima Kenjin Kai presented two $1,000 scholarships to Waiakea High School seniors Erin Hakoda and Dylan Ito for their excellence in academic, co-curricular and extracurricular achievements.

The EHHKK scholarship awards were presented to Hakoda and Ito on May 12 at the Waiakea High School Senior Awards Assembly by past president Kenneth Ikemori.

Hakoda is the daughter of Donn and Ruby Hakoda and the granddaughter of EHHKK member Fumiko Hakoda, and will attend Dixie State University in St. George, Utah, in the fall to pursue a major in communication.

Ito is the son of Dr. Bryan and Joan Ito and the grandson of EHHKK members Ronald and Elaine Takahata, and plans to attend Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., in the fall to pursue a career in physical therapy.
