No marlin or mahimahi were caught during the Hilo Trollers’ third tournament of the season June 7, but there was still a big catch. Captain Jared Miyake and angler Randal Yoneda lured a 218.9-pound ahi aboard the Sherissa 5, and along with their biggest ono they had the largest total weight (238.2) of each category and took grand champion honors. Their total for the day (two largest of each flag fish) was 426.8.

The second-largest catch of the day was a 163.8-pound ahi landed on the Last Cast by captain Cheryl Collamore, angler Scott Collamore and crew Debbie and Reid Takayama. They took the gift certificate donated by S. Tokunaga Store for the first fish landed.

Captain Eric Baptiste and angler Pat Leslie caught the largest ono (39.1) on Easy Money.

Captain Gil Kuali’i, angler Leia Demello aboard Honey Girl took the lead for Fisherman of the Year with a 116.8-pound ahi that gives them three of the four flag fish for the first 3 tournaments.

The next Hilo Trollers tournament is July 12, weather permitting.
