A decomposing body — the second reported this week — was discovered Tuesday morning off Saddle Road.
The body was found in a truck near the 15-mile marker, police said in a press release. Officers discovered the body while responding to a report of an unattended vehicle that was at that location.
An autopsy is scheduled Friday to determine the body’s sex and cause of death.
The case is classified as a coroner’s inquest.
Another decomposing body was found Monday morning in what was described as overgrowth near Hilo International Airport.
Police said both bodies were in an “advanced stage of decomposition.”
Police did not return calls requesting comment.
