‘Inner beauty’: Young women to take stage at Lehua achievement pageant

After months of rehearsal and public service projects, it’s showtime for the contestants of Lehua Hawaii Productions’ fourth annual achievement pageant, “Reveal Your Inner Beauty,” at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hilo Civic Auditorium.

After months of rehearsal and public service projects, it’s showtime for the contestants of Lehua Hawaii Productions’ fourth annual achievement pageant, “Reveal Your Inner Beauty,” at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hilo Civic Auditorium.

Twelve young women will compete for two titles, Miss Teen Lehua Hawaii and Young Miss Lehua Hawaii, with winners advancing to a state pageant Oct. 3 on Oahu.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $12; children 5 and younger are free.

Lehua Hawaii Productions allows young women to showcase their talents, developing public speaking skills, poise and self-confidence while creating lasting friendships.

Kianie Sampaga is the reigning Miss Teen and Angelina Ramirez is the current Young Miss.

The girls competing for this year’s Miss Teen Lehua Hawaii title are:

• Centrie Ann “Hoku” Carter, Kamehameha Schools. She will play the ukulele for her talent and aspires to become an attorney. Centrie’s parents are Kaycie Saiki and Donald Carter.

• Anne Roth, Waiakea High School. Anne will dance for the talent portion and plans to become a pharmacist or physician. She is the daughter of Mitch and Noriko Roth.

• Ronelle Valera, Kamehameha Schools. She will dance the hula as her talent and plans to pursue a degree in dermatology.

Ronelle’s parents are Clynel Barinoa and Roy Valera.

• Chamry DeMotta, Kamehameha Schools. She will perform slam poetry for the talent portion and wants to become a pediatrician. Chamry is the daughter of Camlyn DeMotta and Sala Pola, and the late Ryan DeMotta.

• Tatiana Alvarez, Keaau High School. Tatiana will sing for her talent presentation. Her parents are Aileen Feliciano and Robin Alvarez.

• Teijah Teixeira, Kamehameha Schools. She will perform Tahitian dance. Teijah is the daughter of Renee Teixeira and Patrick Nowicke.

Taking the stage in the Young Miss Lehua Hawaii competition are:

• Kaitlyn Raniada, Waiakea Intermediate School. She also will perform Tahitian dance and hopes to become a pediatrician. Kaitlyn’s parents are Nicole Demello and Cameron Raniada.

• Lehia Coloma, Kamehameha Schools. Lehia will sing the country song “Swingin’” for her talent. Steven and Faith Coloma are her parents.

• Kitana Kaili, Waiakea Intermediate School. She will dance the hula for the talent portion. Kitana’s parents are Latoya and Ikaika Kaili.

• Tylee Calicdan, Kamehameha Schools. She will share her love of singing for the talent phase. Tylee is the daughter of Nadia and Corey Calicdan.

• Raynn Dangaran, Kamehameha Schools. Raynn will excite the audience with her hip hop dance routine. Cheering her on will be her parents, Raymond and Heidi Dangaran.

• Koryn Castaneda-Sako, Hilo Intermediate School. Koryn will dance for her talent presentation. She is the daughter of Sirina Castaneda and Neal Sako.
