HILO (AP) — A magnitude-5 earthquake struck the Big Island Saturday night, but there is no tsunami threat.
The U.S. Geological Survey reports the quake struck about 10:10 p.m. Saturday and was centered in the southeast area of the island about 6.9 miles south of Volcano.
The Hawaii Police Department said no one has reported damage.
More than 200 people throughout the island reported feeling it. An earthquake of magnitude 5 can cause considerable damage.
