A man and a woman are in police custody after being found in a stolen pickup truck.

At 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a suspicious truck in a driveway in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision. When they arrived, they determined that the Toyota Tacoma pickup had been reported stolen from a parking lot in Kailua-Kona either May 30 or 31.

As they were arresting the man who had been behind the wheel, the female passenger attempted to drive away in the truck and struck an officer’s patrol vehicle, causing minor damage.

The pair, 27-year-old Isaac Abrojena of Ocean View and 23-year-old Cheyanne Collins of Ocean View, were arrested and taken to the Kona police cellblock.

The truck was recovered and returned to its owner.

On Friday, detectives charged Abrojena with driving a stolen vehicle. His bail was set at $10,000. Collins was charged with driving a stolen vehicle and inattention to driving. Her bail was set at $11,000.

They remain at the cellblock pending their initial court appearances scheduled for Monday.
