The University of Hawaii at Hilo physics and astronomy program will host a talk by Dr. Steve Howell, project scientist on NASA’s Kepler Mission Science Team, at 7 p.m. July 7 at the UH-Hilo Science and Technology Building, Room 108.

The University of Hawaii at Hilo physics and astronomy program will host a talk by Dr. Steve Howell, project scientist on NASA’s Kepler Mission Science Team, at 7 p.m. July 7 at the UH-Hilo Science and Technology Building, Room 108.

Howell’s presentation will include an update about the groundbreaking space telescope mission, with recent results on exoplanets and the implications for life in the universe.

The lecture is presented in conjunction with the Pacific International Space Center for Exploration Systems and the Gemini Observatory.

Howell serves on numerous review panels and recently was a member of the National Academy of Sciences panel on NASA’s Constellation System. He previously worked with NASA headquarters to help establish the Kepler guest observer office at the NASA/Ames Research Center and currently works at NASA’s Ames Research Center in California.
