Get ready for the Volcano Fourth of July parade featuring a procession through the village and post-parade entertainment, crafts and food booths galore.
The parade starts at 9 a.m. at the Volcano Post Office, continues through the village down Old Volcano Road, turns up Wright Road and ends at Cooper Center, a gathering place for activities, food and entertainment.
So far there are 29 entrants for the parade.
Besides the traditional hot dogs and chili from the Cooper Center, there will be Cajun, Asian and American Indian dishes, and of course favorites such as Terry’s malasadas, loco moco and pulled pork sandwiches.
There will be games and a bounce castle for children near the playground.
Reminders to residents and visitors:
Roads on the parade route in the village will close at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and there will be no parking along Wright Road between Kilauea and Old Volcano roads.
There also will be no public parking at Cooper Center (which will be reserved for event volunteers).
The Carlson Covered Court will be closed to the public from 5 p.m. July 3 until 3 p.m. July 4.
