Considering the huge success that Hilo PONY League baseball is enjoying of late, this award could have gone to a number of youngsters.
But the pick here is a young man who might have won the honor last year had the award existed.
Bula Ahuna pitched a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts Sunday to lead the Hilo Pony 13s to the state title with a 5-1 victory against Maui.
Hilo collected only two hits, but Ahuna made it work thanks to his three-run home run in the first inning, securing a West regional berth.
