A vintage surfboard from Hawaii that made its way to Montana is being sold at a timed online-only auction by the owner, Jim Moffitt, an 85-year-old retired rancher from Miles City.
The surfboard is about 10 feet long and weighs nearly 200 pounds. As the story goes, Moffitt purchased the board in 1964 from a meat cutter in Dearborn, Mich., who obtained the surfboard on his honeymoon in Hawaii years before. The surfboard has stenciled “Ka!he mea kupanaha Hawaii 1930.”
The online-only auction ends July 14. For more information, view www.kinseyauction.com or call 406-772-5812.
