The String Program of the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival makes its long-awaited return to the People’s Theatre in Honokaa at 7 p.m. Thursday, showcasing its artists with timeless favorites, from string quartets to soloists with orchestral accompaniment.
Highlighting the
evening will be HPAF’s highly anticipated collaboration with Grammy winner Gary Washburn and his jazz band.
What’s in store from the Honokaa teacher, composer, performer and arranger? Washburn promises “a slack key for strings Hawaiian-style tune, a spider waltz, a jazz quartet and more.”
General admission to the program is $20; seniors and students are $15. Tickets are available at the door or online at www.hawaiiperformingartsfestival.org/events.
The Hawaii Performing Arts Festival is a world-class summer music festival in Waimea. For three weeks every July, the event brings excitement and cultural vitality to the community, performing more than 20 concerts in Waimea, Honokaa, Hilo and Kona.
