Darren Nishioka, vice president of lending at CU Hawaii Federal Credit Union was installed as president of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce &Industry of Hawaii during the organization’s 65th annual ceremony June 17.

Darren Nishioka, vice president of lending at CU Hawaii Federal Credit Union was installed as president of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce &Industry of Hawaii during the organization’s 65th annual ceremony June 17.

The event drew three vice chairmen of the Higashi-Hiroshima (Japan) Chamber of Commerce &Industry among other representatives of the sister organization. The two chambers are seeking additional links between the business communities of Higashi-Hiroshima and East Hawaii.

Nishioka received the gavel from immediate past-president David Honma of First Hawaiian Bank.

Other JCCIH officers include: first vice president Russell Arikawa of Ginoza Realty Inc.; second vice president Audrey Takamine of Takamine Construction; third vice president Stephen Ueda of Suisan; treasurer Joseph Skruch; auditor Ivan Nakano of I. Kitagawa &Co. Ltd.; and Japanese secretary Naomi Menor of Naomi’s World Travel Service.

JCCIH fosters economic sustainability and perpetuates Japanese cultural heritage and traditions in Hawaii. The chamber sponsors the popular annual Taste of Hilo and also hosts business and cultural events and information sessions throughout the year.
