An 18-year-old man wanted following a report of an assault earlier this month was arrested Thursday on drug charges.

An 18-year-old man wanted following a report of an assault earlier this month was arrested Thursday on drug charges.

Police say Mikaele Carvalho of Glenwood was arrested after he fled into the bush in Fern Forest and tossed a fanny pack containing 17.6 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

He was wanted after a resident of the subdivision said he was punched by a man leaving a vacant house July 6. The suspect, who the neighbor confronted, left a pillow case filled with 11 pounds of copper pipe.

The victim sustained fractured ribs.

Police said they identified the suspect as Carvalho and continue to investigate the theft case.

He has been charged with felony assault, promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a detrimental drug and possessing drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $6,250.
