Manabu “Mana” Uyeda, 90, of Naalehu died July 5 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired electrician for the former Ka‘u Sugar Co. and a U.S. Army World War II veteran with the 442nd Infantry Regiment. Services held. Survived by sons, Lloyd (Coleen) Uyeda of Waipahu, Oahu, and Wendell Uyeda of Naalehu; daughter, Patricia “Pat” McAvoy of Hilo; brothers, Charles (Cynthia) Uyeda of Detroit and Herbert (Dale) Uyeda of Los Angeles; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
