Praise for audit
Praise for audit
A job well done goes out to the auditor regarding the government credit card audit. Now, the County Council must do its job.
The cronies all should be fired, and the County Council should determine a proper punishment for the mayor. This must not be swept under the carpet.
I’m sure the Tribune-Herald will keep a close eye on this matter.

Change speed limit
What would it take to put some sanity in our speed limits?
My wife just got a ticket on the Kapoho-Kalapana road. The speed limit is 30 mph. It is difficult to go that slow, and 45 certainly isn’t dangerous.
The road from Pahoa through what was enchanted forest is 35. Everyone drives it at 45, which is reasonable. They took the road from Pahoa to Keaau that was a reasonable 55 mph limit, and after improving it, reduced the speed limit to 45.
I knew one of the lead engineers who built the Keaau bypass road. He said it was designed for 65 mph, which would be safe and reasonable, but he said any road in Hawaii that has a traffic signal has a maximum speed limit of 45. How many of us commute to Hilo at 45?
Our speed limits are ridiculous. They make law-breakers out of most of us. The police enforce the laws arbitrarily, ignoring the limits most times if you are driving reasonably (as they should), but then randomly enforcing the law. Someone made these speed limit decisions. Presumably, someone can change them.
What do you say, are you willing to change law-breakers into law-abiding citizens? All it would take is applying some common sense.

Impossible mission
It would seem to me providing “positive” cartoons depicting President Obama and Hillary Clinton is “Mission: Impossible.”
Clinton is at best a liar and at worst a criminal, email-shredding, delusional elitist. Obama, on the other hand, is way out of his depth and surrounded himself with people not up to the task — unless the task is ruining the United States.
Obamacare is bad; not being a commander-in-chief is bad. However, the “sheeple” will not wake up no matter how strong the coffee smells.
