County Fire Rescue divers and a helcopter were deployed Thursday afternoon to rescue two teenagers, a boy and a girl, from the Wailuku River at the base of Piihonua Falls.
County Fire Rescue divers and a helcopter were deployed Thursday afternoon to rescue two teenagers, a boy and a girl, from the Wailuku River at the base of Piihonua Falls.
According to a fire department statement, the pair was caught in rapidly moving water by the falls, and were unable to get out of the water themselves due to injuries.
The teens were taken to Hilo Medical Center in stable condition.
Police are investigating.
