Sylvia Mae Bilter, 92, of Kailua-Kona died July 21 at home. Born in St. Charles, Ill., she was a homemaker. Services held. Memorial donations to Hospice of Kona, P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745. Survived by daughters, Cynthia Sims of Captain Cook; Jacque (Jesse) Kunewa of Kailua-Kona; three grandsons and a great-grandson; nieces and nephews. Caithlyn Grace Simon Martinez, stillborn infant, of Pahoa died July 17 at Hilo Medical Center. Private services. Survived by parents, Edwin Martinez and Jeralyn Simon; half-sisters, Anna Nicole Martinez and Hyacinth Martinez; maternal grandparents, Juanito and Editha Simon; paternal grandparents, Eduardo Sr. and Lilia Martinez; aunts, uncles and cousins. Shirley Etsuko Matsunaka, 79, of Hilo died July 18 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a retired state Department of Taxation office clerk and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Shin Buddhist Temple and Komohana Kumiai. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Friday (July 31) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Graveside service and burial at 1 p.m. at Homelani Memorial Park, lehua section. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by son, Oren (Robin) Matsunaka of Hilo; daughters, Wendy (Noel) Fujimoto, Dale (Miles) Fujiyoshi and Corey (Brian) Ishimoto of Hilo; brother, Leslie Nishihara of Kona; sisters, Jean (Darwin) Sindt of San Diego, Sharon (Milton) Yamamoto of Honolulu, Helene (Bertram) Carvalho and Cindy (Wade) Takimoto of Hilo; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson; nephews, nieces and cousins. Celebrations of life for the late Alexander “Pancho” Paglinawan Jr. are scheduled for 4-10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Oahu Veterans Center and noon Sunday, Aug. 16, at Onekahakaha Beach Park in Hilo. Other information is in an obituary published July 19.
