A Mountain View woman has been charged with two felonies in connection with a Hawaiian Acres burglary.

A Mountain View woman has been charged with two felonies in connection with a Hawaiian Acres burglary.

On July 22, a woman returned to her Road 9 home and discovered that it had been broken into, police said. A woman in a car in front of her house said she had mechanical trouble.

The victim called 911 but the woman in the car left before officers arrived, police said.

Early Tuesday morning, officers arrested 29-year-old Sheri Bowers on two unrelated bench warrants for failure to appear in court on traffic violations. She was taken to the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $300 bail until her court appearance later Tuesday.

While Bowers was in custody, Criminal Investigations Section detectives determined she was responsible for the break-in and arrested her on suspicion of burglary. At 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, she was charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree theft.

Her bail on those offenses was set at $7,000 and her initial court appearance is scheduled for today.
