Richard Stanley Dawe, 88, of Kailua-Kona, formerly of Maui, died July 26. Born in Bournemouth, England, he was a retired laser ranging operator at the University of Hawaii Institute for Astronomy on Haleakala. Private services. Memorial donations to Hospice of Kona, P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745. Survived by wife, Doreen Dawe of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Joan (David) Ramos of Waimea; half-sister, Cristina Barros of Brazil; three stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Benjamin “Benny” “Ben” Gomes, 92, of Naalehu died July 20 at a private care home. Born in Holualoa, he was a retired crane operator for the former Ka‘u Sugar Co. Kimo King Jarrett, 51, of Waikoloa died June 1 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Westminster, Calif., he was a mechanic and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Audrey Yayoi Kakugawa, 72, of Hilo died July 19 at home. Born in Wahiawa, Oahu, she was a retired schoolteacher who taught at Kohala High School, Pahoa Elementary and High schools and Mountain View Elementary and Intermediate School, and was a registrar at Keaau Intermediate School. She also was a member of the Puna Hongwanji Mission. Services held. No flowers, gifts or koden (monetary gifts).
