The Hawaii County Council approved the acceptance last week of $122,710 in federal funds to help cover expenses incurred during last year’s Tropical Storm Iselle.

The Hawaii County Council approved the acceptance last week of $122,710 in federal funds to help cover expenses incurred during last year’s Tropical Storm Iselle.

The funds cover 75 percent of the costs of a Department of Public Works project on Kapoho-Kalapana Road.

As of June 23, the Federal Emergency Management Agency approved $4,675,695 in reimbursements for Iselle-related damage and projects throughout the state.

Of that, $1,964,675 was dedicated to Hawaii County public works, $102,445 to Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation, $740,014 to Hawaii County Civil Defense, and $19,412 to Kua O Ka La New Century Public Charter School.
