Born in Waiohinu, he was a Ka‘u paniolo, an airframe and powerplant professional for Hawaiian Airlines, U.S. Civil Service retiree and U.S. Air Force/Army Air Corps veteran. Graveside services at noon Friday, Sept. 4, at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kona. Celebration of life to follow at Barron Bertelmann’s Waimea home. Survived by sons, Chris (Gina) Bertelmann, Kevin M. Bertelmann, Barron (Cathleen) Bertelmann and Edwin Bertelmann; daughters, Karen Corpuz and Roxanne Bertelmann; brother, Roy (Velma) Bertelmann of Arlington, Texas; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
