Daniel Luczon Urban, 92, of Captain Cook died Aug. 9 at home. Born in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a coffee farmer, yardman at the former Keauhou Beach Hotel and dishwasher at the former Kona Inn Hotel, one of the last surviving members of the sakadas, a group of laborers brought from the Philippines to work for the Hawaii Sugar and Pineapple Association, and member of St. Michael’s Filipino Catholic Club and the Filipino Organization of Kona. All-night vigil starting at 5 p.m. Friday (Aug. 21) at the family home, 75-5737 Kalawa St. in Kailua-Kona. Prayer service at 6 p.m. Viewing at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona. Mass at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Kona Memorial Park Mausoleum in Holualoa.
