HONOLULU (AP) — A Hawaii couple is suing United Airlines after they say an unattended serving cart fell and injured one of them.
Peter and Misty Tampon filed a federal lawsuit last Friday against the airline, claiming an August 2013 flight from Honolulu to Narita, Japan caused them $75,000 of damages.
According to the lawsuit, during dinner service a flight attendant left a serving cart unattended by Peter Tampon’s seat. The cart fell on him, injuring his left knee and leg and causing him to undergo three surgeries.
A United Airlines spokeswoman says they value the safety of their customers, but that she cannot comment on pending litigation.
The case is scheduled to go to conference Nov. 16.
