Volunteers will dive into a campus beautification project Saturday at three Hawaii Island schools.

The work to be done at Hilo High, Honokaa Elementary and Waiakea High is part of a larger, 21-school, statewide campaign organized by Hawaii 3R’s, an organization whose title stands for “Repair, Remodel, Restore Our Schools.”

Volunteers will gather to paint curbing, re-stripe parking stalls and paint posts around the campus to give each of these schools a fresh look for the students and improve upon community pride.

Among the volunteers will be 150 First Hawaiian Bank employees, their friends and family members. The projects are part of FHB’s annual Community Care Employee Volunteer Service program, where teams of employees partner with nonprofits statewide and on Guam and Saipan to assist with community service projects.

This year, the bank made a $50,000 donation to provide paint and supplies in addition to providing the “sweat equity” of more than 1,000 employees to beautify the 21 school campuses on seven Saturdays, from Aug. 8-Sept. 26.
