A 37-year-old Hilo man is facing a habitual DUI charge.

According to court documents, Yamashta Jobwa was arrested about 8 p.m. Friday at the corner of Pauahi Street and Kamehameha Avenue in Hilo after an officer saw him weave while driving a 1996 Nissan Maxima westbound on Kamehameha near Manono Street.

Documents state Jobwa had “red, watery, glassy and bloodshot eyes as well as the odor of an alcoholic beverage” on his breath.

Jobwa reportedly failed all three field sobriety tests he was administered and was charged with habitual DUI, refusing a sobriety test and driving without a license and insurance.

Documents state Jobwa was charged with three prior DUI offenses in the previous 10 years.

On Monday, Hilo District Judge Harry Freitas confirmed Jobwa’s bail at $2,775 and ordered him to appear for a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. today.
