Wednesday is the deadline to mail in applications for the Big Island All Stars Biddy Basketball Camp, which will be held Sept. 18-20 at Panaewa Gym.
The camp is for ages 5-8 and beginner 9-year-olds, with registration at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 18. The camp starts at 5 p.m., and it’s limited to the first 90 applicants. Walk-ins will be accepted is space is available
Applications can be picked up at Panaewa Gym from Serge or online at bigislandallstars.weebly.com
The fee is $40, payable to Big Island All Stars – write “Biddy Basketball Camp” in memo.

Archery classes for ages 9-up
The Waiakea Recreation Center will offer beginners archery classes ages for 9 years old and above.
The program will be 2:30-4 p.m. from Oct. 14-Nov. 25, 2015.
Registration is $15 is limited to the first 12 paid participants.

Ka‘u Coffee trail run is Sept. 19
The second annual Ka’u Coffee Trail Run is set for 7 a.m. Sept. 19, with a half-marathon, 10-kilometer and 5K.
All races begin and finish at Ka’u Coffee Mill in Pahala.

Hilo badminton event Sept. 4-5
Featuring badminton players from the Big Island, Oahu, Japan and California, the 42nd annual Hilo Open will be held Sept. 4-5 at Hilo Armory.
Registration divisions are open, A, B, C, D, single and mixed, junior, adult, and various senior levels in men’s and women’s divisions.
This year’s tournament is dedicated to Hilo cardiologist, Dr. Djon Lim, who recently passed away.
Among the players traveling from Japan to play in the honor of Dr. Lim, is Michael Tsutsumi, a former Hilo resident.

UH-Hilo offers ticket packages
Ticket packages for the UH-Hilo fall seasons and the Vulcans All-Sports Pass went on sale Monday.
The all-sports package consists of six men’s soccer matches, seven women’s soccer matches, 13 volleyball matches, 10 men’s basketball games, 13 women’s basketball games and 20 baseball games over 12 dates.
General seating all-sports passes: $125 (adults) and $100 (seniors 65 and over; students, middle, high and UH system). Reserved seating all-sports passes: $175 (adults), $150 (seniors 65 and over; students, middle, high and UH system) and $60 (children 12 years and below).
General admission packages for volleyball: $50 (adults) and $40 (seniors 65 and over; students, middle, high and UH system).
General admission packages for soccer: $25 (adults) and $20 (seniors, 65 and over; students, middle, high and UH system).
Reserved seating packages for volleyball: $80 (adults), $70 (seniors 65 and over; students, middle, high and UH system) and $40 (children 12 years and below).

Mixed indoor volleyball event
A mixed-6’s indoor volleyball tournament will be held Sept. 11-12 at Hilo Armory.
The cost is $30 per team, and the deadline to register is 5 p.m. Sept. 4.
There is still room for two “A” division teams and two “B” division teams, and all ages are welcome.
The tournament will have a concession to raise funds to help send a local team to a volleyball tournament on the mainland.

Hawaii Cycling Club events
The Hawaii Cycling Club has a pair of events on tap in September.
At 8 a.m. Sept. 12 at Mauna Kea, a 6-mile time trial will be held with an elevation gain of 2,500 feet at Mauna Kea Access Road. Cyclists can also choose a non-time trial option that starts between 7-7:30 a.m.
The fourth annual “Out n Back” training time trial and Saturday ride takes place at 7 a.m. Sept. 19. The course is 19.5 miles and starts at Ka’iminani Drive and Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway. Competitors will ride north 13.5 miles to mile marker 80 and return to the finish line at mile-marker 86.
The Saturday Ride non-time trial bicyclists will start shortly after the last time trial competitor.
Both events are free to HCC annual members. Non-members will pay a $10 one-day membership fee. The annual membership fee is $20.
