The University of Hawaii at Hilo’s College of Continuing Education and Community Service offers an autism series recommended for those who interact with autistic children.
Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorder includes an overview of ASD as well as interventions and information about behavioral assessments and programs, assistive technology and advocacy for services.
Classes are 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, from Sept. 9 to Oct. 14 in UCB Room 113.
Behavioral Strategies for Success with Children with Autism will provide an overview of practical behavioral strategies used to teach children with autism based on the fundamental principles of applied behavior analysis.
Classes are 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 21 to Nov. 25 in UCB Room 113.
Each course is $80, or $150 for both, and are taught by Johanna Taylor, Ph.D., program manager at Easter Seals Hawaii Early Intervention Program in Hilo. Taylor is a board-certified behavior analyst.
