The Hilo Woman’s Club, as a part of its community support efforts, presents a limited number of scholarships to seniors graduating from local high schools.
In addition to their scholastic and community service record, the recipients must be pursuing a college or university education on the Big Island.
The 2015 recipients include Angelica Salom and Sasha Kauwale.
Both young women graduated from Keaau High School and received a $1,000 scholarship. Salmon is attending the University of Hawaii at Hilo and Kauwale is a student at Hawaii Community College.
The Hilo Woman’s Club presents fundraising events throughout the year, such as the upcoming Oktoberfest and the Lissoni String Concert in December.
