An 18-year-old Hilo man was charged with six offenses after being stopped in a new truck that was reported stolen.

An 18-year-old Hilo man was charged with six offenses after being stopped in a new truck that was reported stolen.

Sometime between Saturday and Monday, someone broke into a house on Hale Nani Street in Hilo and stole electronics, personal information and a 2015 four-door Nissan Frontier pickup truck that still displayed paper license plates.

On Monday evening, officers spotted the truck on Kumukoa Street and arrested the driver, Delvionte Cooper.

On Wednesday, Cooper was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree theft, second-degree theft, driving a stolen vehicle, unauthorized possession of confidential information and driving without a license.

His bail was set at $16,500 and his initial court appearance was Thursday.
