The UH-Hilo volleyball team was fast and efficient in picking up its first victory of the season.
Kyndra Trevino-Scott smacked 10 kills Friday night, and the Vulcans spurted past Felician 25-6, 25-8, 25-18 at the Hilo Naniloa Hawaii Challenge.
Trevino-Scott hit .714 on 14 attempts and Morgan Lees added nine kills (.643) and six aces for UH-Hilo (1-1), which hit .382.
No Vulcan took more than 14 swings. Marley Strand-Nicolaisen posted six kills and Shelby Harguess added five.
The teams will play again at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Carmen Shaw has six kills for Felician (1-6), which hit .061.
UH-Hilo went on an 11-0 run in the first set, with Trevino-Scott’s kill giving the Vulcans a 19-3 lead. In Game 2, UH-Hilo used an 11-0 spurt to pull away.
