A 3.8-magnitude earthquake centered near Kilauea volcano rattled parts of East Hawaii on Thursday.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the temblor occurred at 12:32 p.m. about 3.8 miles south-southeast of the Pu‘u ‘O‘o vent and 6.4 miles west of Kalapana. It was located at a depth of 5 miles.

Residents reported feeling the earthquake in Ka‘u, Puna, Hilo and Hamakua districts.
