Hilo church to host ‘Cantiamo,’ an afternoon of song

Vocalist Kaweo Kanoho and Kayleen Yuda will present “Cantiamo,” a classical music program at 3 p.m. Sunday at Community of Christ Church, 1842 Kinoole St. in Hilo.

The program will include Italian Neapolitan songs, French art songs, operatic arias, selections from Broadway, as well as Hawaiian and Okinawan songs.

Kanoho, a Hilo tenor, is a member of the Mae Z Orvis Studio with Hawaii Opera Theatre and most recently performed as a soloist for the Kona Choral Society and the Hawaii Symphony.

Yuda has been a local accompanist, church organist and piano teacher in Hilo for more than 30 years. For decades she was the departmental accompanist for the University of Hawaii at Hilo and their community chorus.

Admission is $10 and tickets are available at Tours by Charlie at 110 Kinoole St. and at the door.
