The county Department of Public Works, Traffic Division has scheduled maintenance work on the traffic signals at the intersection of Kamehameha Avenue and Bayfront Highway in downtown Hilo on Sunday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., weather permitting.

The county Department of Public Works, Traffic Division has scheduled maintenance work on the traffic signals at the intersection of Kamehameha Avenue and Bayfront Highway in downtown Hilo on Sunday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., weather permitting.

The following lane changes will be in effect during this period:

• Entering Hilo on Bayfront, lane closures turning onto Waianuenue Avenue.

• Hamakua-bound on Kamehameha, no right turn onto Bayfront.

• Makai-bound on Waianuenue, the straight through lane heading onto Bayfront will be closed.

The following lanes will remain open:

• On Bayfront Highway, both town-bound and Hamakua-bound straight-through lanes will remain open.

• On Kamehameha, Hamakua-bound, the straight-through and left-turn lanes will remain open.

• On Kamehameha, town-bound, the straight-through and right-turn lanes will remain open.

• Makai-bound on Waianuenue, the right-turn lane will remain open.

Special-duty police officers will be present to direct traffic during the shutdown of the traffic control signals at the intersection.
