Patrick Stover

Patrick Stover

Sport: Running

The performance: He enters races as Kenneth Stover, but he goes by Patrick.

By any name, he’s a winner.

Stover, of Kailua-Kona, is no stranger to winning half-marathons. He won the 13.1-miler at the Kona Marathon in June and he was runner-up at Volcano in August, but Saturday’s Ka’u Coffee Trail Run was a different animal altogether.

It’s a true trail run and with ample hills, and the terrain makes it one of the most difficult half-marathons on the island. The times reflect that fact.

Stover’s winning effort of 1 hour, 37 minutes, 44 seconds on Saturday was 15 minutes behind his finishes at Kona and Volcano, but he dominated – his next closest pursuer was more than 19 minutes behind.
