The search for a fisherman swept off a cliff by a wave in Hawaiian Paradise Park is in its second day, the Hawaii Fire Department said.
Six units, including a rescue boat and county helicopter, engaged in the search off Paradise Ala Kai Drive, which was prompted by the 2:20 p.m. Saturday alarm,
Bystanders told fire rescue personnel they last saw the man about 50 yards offshore.
High surf brought by Tropical Storm Niala and poor visibility hampered search-and-rescue operations and the search was suspended at about 6 p.m. Saturday and resumed at daybreak today.
