Police have identified a 51-year-old fisherman swept to sea by storm surf at Kaloli Point as Joseph M. Leialoha of Hawaiian Paradise Park.

The Fire Department on Thursday suspended the search for the missing man, who was knocked off a cliff by a wave at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, during high surf brought on by the passing of Tropical Storm Niala south of the Big Island.

Leialoha was last seen floating about 50 yards offshore.

According to a written Fire Department statement, the search has been terminated pending any new developments.
