The county Department of Public Works, Traffic Division has re-scheduled maintenance work on the traffic signals at the intersection of Kamehameha Avenue and Bayfront Highway in downtown Hilo on Sunday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., weather permitting.
The work was originally scheduled for Sept. 20 but postponed due to inclement weather conditions.
The following lane changes will be in effect during this period:
• Entering Hilo on Bayfront, lane closures turning onto Waianuenue Avenue.
• Hamakua-bound on Kamehameha, no right turn onto Bayfront.
• Makai-bound on Waianuenue, the straight-through lane heading onto Bayfront will be closed.
The following lanes will remain open:
• On Bayfront Highway, both town-bound and Hamakua-bound straight-through lanes will remain open.
• On Kamehameha, Hamakua-bound, the straight-through and left-turn lanes will remain open.
• On Kamehameha, town-bound, the straight-through and right-turn lanes will remain open.
• Makai-bound on Waianuenue, the right-turn lane will remain open.
Special-duty police officers will be present to direct traffic during the shutdown of the traffic control signals at the intersection.
