Robert Jonathan “Jon” Cooley, 48, of Hilo died Sept. 17. Born in Honolulu, he was a journeyman pipe fitter for Dorvin D. Leis Co. and member of Plumbers and Fitters Union Local 675. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Ballard Family Mortuary, 570 Kinoole St. in Hilo. Celebration of life service at 11 a.m. No flowers. Scattering of ashes 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, fronting The Elks Lodge in Waikiki, 2933 Kalakaua Ave. in Honolulu. Survived by wife, Agnes “Aggie” L. Cooley of Hilo; father, Robert L. (Joanne) Cooley of Arizona; sons, David “Kekoa” Kinro-Cooley, Corey Hinano (Megan) Kinro-Cooley and Elijah Nainoa Kinro- Cooley of Hilo; sister, Suzanne (Charles) Christnacht of Washington; three grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Linda “Leah” Kaulunahele, 71, of Honokaa died Sept. 2 at St. Francis Hospice on Oahu. Born in Honokaa, she was a retired machine operator for the Waikoloa Land Co. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 3) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Mass at 10 a.m. Flowers welcome. Survived by brother, Kenneth (Dawn) Rillanos; sister Diane (Phillip) Akao; sister-in-law Mary “Swanee” Rillanos; numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carl Kazuo Obasa, 82, of Kurtistown died Sept. 2 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Hilo, he was a retired U.S. Postal Service mail carrier, U.S. Army Korean War veteran, and member of Kurtistown Jodo Mission and Kurtistown Young Men’s Association. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by brother, Yoshio (Marcia) Obasa of Kurtistown; sisters, Sueko Saito of Honolulu, Sumie Yamanishi of Japan, Sue Kojima, Yoshie (Abel) Wakida and Masue (James) Yogi of Hilo; nieces and nephews.
