HONOLULU (AP) — Honolulu police are warning residents about a possible phone scam involving calls from strangers regarding road work.
The police department says a Hawaii Kai resident recently received a call from someone about road work that was being done in her neighborhood.

System east of Guam could become typhoon
HAGATNA, Guam (AP) — Meteorologists with the National Weather Service say a tropical disturbance about 1,200 miles east of Guam could become a typhoon as it passes north of Saipan later this week.
Meteorologist Derek Williams says he expects tropical cyclone advisories to be issued Thursday or Friday. He says the center of the disturbance is surrounded by rainfall and thunderstorm activity.
The system continues to head west toward the Marianas, and is expected to start moving in a west-northwest track by Wednesday.
The Weather Service will know more about the impact of the disturbance as it forms.
Another tropical disturbance, 91W, had been expected to bring inclement weather Tuesday. But it avoided Guam and moved north.
Guam is expected to receive heavy rainfall by Friday.
