HONOLULU (AP) — The Honolulu Ethics Commission has dismissed complaints against current and former City Council members over claims that they didn’t disclose conflicts of interests before voting on the city’s $6 billion rail project.
The complaints against Ikaika Anderson, Ann Kobayashi and Donovan Dela Cruz were dismissed Wednesday following a unanimous vote by the commission.
The complaints were brought by commission Executive Director Chuck Totto, who alleged that the three had accepted gifts from lobbyists and then voted on rail bills and resolutions that were favorable to the lobbyists.
Colleen Hanabusa, who represents the three officials, told commission members Friday that the case should be dismissed on lack of merit.
The commission is expected to decide next week on a similar case involving former councilman Todd Apo.
