The University of Hawaii at Hilo College of Continuing Education and Community Service is offering “Learn to Play Guitar in a Day!” from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 24 at its facility at 891 Ululani St. in Hilo.

The University of Hawaii at Hilo College of Continuing Education and Community Service is offering “Learn to Play Guitar in a Day!” from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 24 at its facility at 891 Ululani St. in Hilo.

Cost is $100 and includes a book and clip-on electric tuner. Participants must provide their own acoustic guitar.

Participants will learn basic chords, simple strumming and picking patterns, basic music theory, tuning techniques, guitar care, music resources, performances skills and more.

“Learn to Play Guitar in a Day!” DVD creator Marlene Hutchinson presents her one-day workshop throughout the United States. She has been featured in Acoustic Guitar magazine, by the Women’s International Music Network and in several news publications.
