Philip Michael “Mike” Luce, 68, of South Kohala died Oct. 5 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Los Angeles County, Calif., he was a construction and engineering contractor, owner of M. Luce Contracting Inc. and MLC Inc., former president of Kahilu Theatre, Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce, Big Island Business Council, former chairman of Hawaii County Planning Commission, chairman of Waimea Community Association Planning and Design Review Committee and member of North Hawaii Rotary, UH-Hilo and West Hawaii Chancellor’s Advisory Committee, Hawaii Leeward Planning Conference, Kohala Ditch Foundation board and South Kohala Traffic Safety Committee. Celebration of life Saturday, Nov. 7, time and place TBA. No flowers. Memorial donations to Kahilu Theatre Foundation. Survived by wife, Suzanne Hill; sisters-in-law Sally (Hill) Brenny, Kathy Hill, Patricia (Hill) Engel and Roberta Ann (Hill) Blomquist; brothers-in-law William Robert Hill Jr. and William Bradley; godmother, Vivian Fountain; cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
