Hilo airport post office reopens

The Hilo airport post office reopened Monday evening after closing for several hours after someone reported an unattended package.

A U.S. Postal Service spokesman said the post office followed protocol by closing while the package was investigated.

It does not appear anything unusual was discovered.

The post office closed at around 4:15 p.m. and reopened by 7 p.m., the spokesman said.
