The Hilo Athletic Committee and the Vikings’ athletic department will hold its annual fall steak-fry fundraiser from 10 a.m.-3 p.m at the gym

Kiawe-grilled steaks will be on sale to the public for $9 a plate.

Roller derby

Dubbed “Blood is the new black,” the Paradise Roller Girls’ Hawaiian Honey Badgers will face Oahu’s Pacific Roller Derby Hulagan at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.

The doors open at 6 p.m., and the Big Island Babes Junior Roller Derby will play at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $5, and keiki 5 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at Kadota Liquor, Lucy’s Taqueria, Mt. View Village Video, Jungle Love in Pahoa, CD Wizard (add $1 surcharge) or at the night of the event.

IKL Kona event set for Nov. 7

The Kona branch of the International Karate League will hold its 11th annual IKL championship from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at Kekuaokalani Gymnasium.

Branches from Hilo, Paauilo, Honokaa, Waimea, North Kohala, Waikoloa, Captain Cook, Kailua­-Kona, Pahala, Keaau, Oahu, and California are scheduled to attend.
