Grant writing workshop set

The College of Continuing Education and Community Service at the University of Hawaii at Hilo is offering an advanced grant writing workshop from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday in UH-Hilo’s UCB Room 331.

The cost is $75.

Instructor Jeani Navarro will show participants how to research and write proposals that get funded. Proposals will be reviewed individually for minimum requirements, clear and concise statement of need, thorough budget, additional funding sources, board of directors and collaboration efforts.

Church bazaar vendors sought

Kauaha‘ao Congregational Church in Waiohinu is hosting a fundraising bazaar from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 21 and invites individuals, school/athletic groups, clubs and churches to be a “flea market” vendor.

The church is located at the corner of Mamalahoa Highway, Kamaoa Road and Pinao Street. The charge for a 10-by-10-foot vendor space is $10. Vendors need to bring their own 10-by-10 tent, tables, chairs, and if power is needed, a generator.

Vendors can sell anything except hot food/plate lunches. The church will be selling kalua pig plate lunches, containers of kalua pig, hot dogs, baked goods and more. There also will be entertainment throughout the day.
