Keaau Middle School observed “Make a Difference Day” on Oct. 24 with families, teachers and the community spending time beautifying the campus and installing a new marquee.

The marquee, a gift from the Kunishige family, has been in the works for several months and finally came to fruition.

Reid Kunishige was a teacher at Keaau Middle from 1988-2011. His father was a teacher when the school was Ola‘a.

Kunishige grew up on the campus, where his parents lived in teacher housing.

Kunishige’s mother, son and two brothers were there to commemorate his service to Keaau Middle School.
