The Hawaii chapter of the American Red Cross has scheduled first aid classes for November and December in Hilo.
The classes are conducted at 55 Ululani St. and can be taken in two ways: online blended-learning or full course.
Online blended-learning courses are convenient with shorter training time and involve partially online learning (approximately one hour) and a classroom session (two hours).
Full courses are in a classroom, instructor-led with video, book work and hands-on skills (practice on manikins). Class length can run from four to 10 hours.
The following classes are offered:
• Adult First Aid/CPR/AED (full course)
Recognize and care for victims of illness and sudden injuries and learn how to administer CPR and use an AED for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies on adults.
When: 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 23 and Dec. 6
Cost: $90
• Adult &Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED (full course)
Recognize and care for victims of illness and sudden injuries and life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants and learn how to use an AED.
When: 9:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m. Dec. 6

Certificates are issued after successful completion of courses. All Red Cross first aid/CPR/AED certifications are valid for two years. Classes are based on availability and subject to change.
