The 28th annual Hilo Christmas Extravaganza Craft Fair (formerly known as the Christmas Craft “EG”stravaganza) will be presented Nov. 20-21 at the Edith Kanaka’ole Multipurpose Stadium.
Everyone is invited to join in the festivities at Hilo’s premiere craft fair and enjoy the handmade crafts from throughout the state and California, festive music, ono food and more than $2,000 in door prizes.
This year’s show is being produced by Malamapono Events Management. Owner Kim Sasaki purchased the “EG”stravangaza craft fair from promoter and founder Evelyn Garbo upon her retirement after 27 years of producing the show. Sasaki, a Hilo native, also is a fellow artist and jewelry designer and has participated in the craft fair through the years.
“As a crafter, I recognize the importance of providing other local artists and crafters a venue to showcase and sell their artwork,” Sasaki said of her decision to take on the role of promoter. “I also believe in the importance of supporting our local small businesses and community.”
Sasaki invites everyone to come and meet local artists and crafters and get Christmas shopping done early. She promises there will be great shopping, new vendors, food and tons of fun at this year’s holiday celebration.
Fair hours are 5-9 p.m. Nov. 20 and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 21. There is a $2 admission fee for adults; keiki 12 years old and younger are free; and the last hour before closing each day will be free for last-minute purchases and pickups.
