Yasuo Honda, 92, of Honaunau died Oct. 31 at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Keei, he was a tomato, vegetable, coffee and macadamia farmer and member of Honaunau Kumiai No. 3 and Ho‘olokahi Congregational Church. Visitation 2-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Kona Outdoor Circle. Celebration of life service at 3 p.m. Aloha attire. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by sons, Roy (Takako) Honda of Honaunau, Vance (Clarisa) Honda of Waimea and Nathan (Helen) Honda of Whittier, Calif.; daughters, Jean Kadooka of Honaunau and Sherrie Honda of North Hollywood, Calif.; sisters, Sadako Mitsuda and Janet Matsuda of Honolulu, Doris McKee of San Rafael, Calif.; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Edward Anthony Horwatt, 88, of Hilo died Nov. 5 at home. Born in Bloomingdale, Ohio, he was a retired U.S. Navy Engineman 1st Class, retired from Scripps Research Institute of Oceanography and Salk Institute of Biological Studies and member of Kaumana Drive Baptist Church. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 17) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial services together with those of his wife, Rose Ah Lin Horwatt, who died a day earlier, at 10 a.m. Urn committal at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Aloha attire. Rose Ah Lin (Akana) Horwatt, 87, of Hilo died Nov. 4 at home. Born in Hilo, she was a housewife, retired from Dietary Food Services and member of Kaumana Drive Baptist Church. Yoshito Takamine, 89, of Honokaa died Oct. 27 at home. Born in Hakalau, he was a retired division director for the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), worked for Honokaa Sugar Co., and was a member of the territorial and state House of Representatives from 1958-1984, serving many years as House Labor Committee chairman.
