Free Palestine Walk Nov. 21

Hilo-area residents are invited to join in the fifth annual Free Palestine Walk starting at 10 a.m. Nov. 21 at Kalakaua Park.

Sponsors of the walk are Jewish Voice for Peace, Malu ‘Aina, Global Hope and Hale Lokahi. Jewish Voice for Peace is composed of activists inspired by Jewish tradition to work for peace and social justice.

Walk participants will advocate for a U.S. policy that seeks peace and justice for Israelis and Palestinians.

‘Imiloa hosting Tea Chat

‘Imiloa Astronomy Center celebrates Thanksgiving at the next Tea Chat with JoAnn Aguirre at 2 p.m. Sunday.

This month’s Tea Chat will introduce autumnal flush teas and suggest how they can be a delicious addition to the Thanksgiving table. Cherished Thanksgiving traditions will be shared while enjoying an afternoon tea that includes scones, clotted cream and jams or curd.

Aguirre is a tea connoisseur with 20 years of experience working and traveling around the world. She is the owner Teaching Tea and sits on the board of directors for the Hawaii Tea Society. Aguirre’s Tea Chats have been a popular monthly event at ‘Imiloa for the past two years.

Tickets are $15 or $23 for nonmembers and can be purchased by visiting ‘Imiloa’s Guest Services Desk or by calling 969-9703.

Hospice holiday programs set

The death of a loved one is difficult any time of the year, but the holiday season can intensify feelings of loss. North Hawaii Hospice is offering two programs Dec. 8 to manage the mixed and painful emotions.

The Holiday Circle of Support Group will meet from noon-1 p.m. followed by Expressive Art for Adults from 1-2:30 p.m. Participants will create positive affirmation in the form of cards, collages and magnets.
